This escalator is being installed to service the new London Crossrail (Elizabeth Line) at Liverpool Street. Despite high-technology laser positioning systems, the installers still like to use old-fashioned plumb lines. The escalators must be installed to within a 2 mm tolerance over their 37 metre length.
